Amy:

over thirty awards for short stories, personal essays and children's literature.
She was Associate
Editor for 14 years of the "Transport Fleet News", but for the
past six years she has been working for "Fun Things To Do In The Mountains".
Amy is the author of Retter,
A Novel of the Mountains and Cannie,
the Hills of Home, both historical novels,
and a book of short stories based on her childhood days in the Blue Ridge
Mountains, Matchbox Mountain. As a visiting artist and lecturer, Amy has
worked in Indiana, Illinois, and North and South Carolina. Through Catch
The Spirit of Appalachia, Inc., a nonprofit organization she co-founded,
Amy works to promote literacy and awareness of self-worth in both adults
and children.
Doreyl:

oreyl,
who has a master's degree in bio- medical art, has spent over twenty years
in the commercial art and advertising field as president and owner of an
advertising agency in southern California.
Matchbox Mountain, written by her sister Amy, is fully illustrated with
Doreyl's pencil drawings, and Doreyl's artwork is featured on the covers
of Amy's other books. Co-founder of Catch the Spirit o Appalachia, Inc.,
and an experienced workshop leader,
Doreyl
utilizes her background in art and science to create an environment in
which participants can experience their unique creativity. She has exhibited
in group and individual shows in California, Indiana, and Washington, D.C.,
and has worked as a visiting artist in several North and South Carolina
school systems.
