| MOUNTAIN HERITAGE
(A poem) |
Like our forefathers before us and our children to be, there is a spirit among us no eyes shall ever see.
A spirit of gratitude; a spirit of truth; a spirit of wisdom and a spirit of youth.
You ask why we live the way we do, it is that spirit that makes us different from you.
Our forefathers worked unyieldingly, wrenching their backs, so we could grasp true wisdom by following their tracts.
We have pride in a heritage you will never understand, unless you have walked the footsteps of an old mountain man.
The South bears a soul, true love only God could give, through the stories my granddaddy told ,my son will someday live.
